It is easy to insert values of variables directly in the text. Just enclose the names of the variables with {}. Each text field has a scope of variables. Any x number or string variable in the scope of the text can be used to replace the corresponding {x} placeholder in the text.
It is also possible to evaluate an expression and insert its value directly into the text by adding an equal sign at the beginning of the expression such as {=x/1000}. This method is simpler if the expressions do not need to be named variables. However, no error checking is performed unless the question is being instantiated in the quiz. In the example below, the meters are converted to kilometers:
What is the speed of the rocket if it travels the distance {=x/1000} km in {t} s?
It is also possible to insert values of variables or expressions into equations. This subject is covered in the section on equations.
